This looks like a good book

Tell it like it is....

New postings from James at Eceti this day....
Considering the complete disregard for the constitution and continuation of the wars, torture camps, murder of innocent children, men and women I have to ask this question. How can this man lecture us on guns, the law, killing of children and continue with blind followers???????????????? What the hell is wrong with America? I am not a republican or democrat just stating the obvious yet even so called religious and spiritual people support this blindly. I hate posting this crap yet keep getting attacked for not honoring our prez as the new messiah. Double speak does not work on the enlightened. It did not work in Nazi Germany either so they did away with the ones who disagreed. The laws are in place for a repeat performance.

All we are saying is give bees a chance

Breaking news!! Europe's leaders could move to ban bee killing pesticides in 48 hours. Click to sign and send this to everyone -- let's build a 2-million-strong swarm and make our voices heard before they meetDear friends,

Bees around the world are dying off and Europe’s food watchdog just said certain pesticides are part of the problem. We’ve got 48 hours before key meetings -- let’s get a 2-million-person swarm to save the bees. Click to take urgent action now:

Sign the petition

Quietly, globally, billions of bees are dying, threatening our crops and food. But in 48 hours the European Union could move to ban the most poisonous pesticides, and pave the way to a global ban that would save bees from extinction.

Four EU countries have begun banning these poisons, and some bee populations are already recovering. Days ago the official European food safety watchdog stated for the first time that certain pesticides are fatally harming bees. Now legal experts and European politicians are calling for an immediate ban. But Bayer and other giant pesticide producers are lobbying hard to keep them on the market. If we build a huge swarm of public outrage now, we can push the European Commission to put our health and our environment before the profit of a few.

We know our voices count! Last year, our 1.2 million strong petition forced US authorities to open a formal consultation on pesticides -- now if we reach 2 million, we can persuade the EU to get rid of these crazy poisons and pave the way for a ban worldwide. Sign the urgent petition and send this to everyone -- Avaaz and leading MEPs will deliver our message ahead of this week's key meeting in Brussels:

Bees don't just make honey, they are vital to life on earth, every year pollinating 90% of plants and crops -- with an estimated $40bn value and over one-third of the food supply in many countries. Without immediate action to save bees, many of our favourite fruits, vegetables, and nuts could vanish from our shelves.

Recent years have seen a steep and disturbing global decline in bee populations -- some bee species are already extinct and some US species are at just 4% of their previous numbers. Scientists have been scrambling for answers and now the European Food Safety Authority is saying that toxic chemicals called neonicotinoid pesticides could be responsible for the bee deaths. France, Italy, Slovenia and even Germany, where the main manufacturer Bayer is based, have banned one of these bee-killing pesticides. But Bayer continues to export its poison across the world.

Now the issue is coming to a boil. EU parliamentarians are stepping up their pressure on the European Commission and key governments to push new legislation to ban the deadly pesticides, and we can offer them the public support they need to counter the powerful pesticide lobby. Sign the urgent petition to Europe’s leaders, then forward this email widely:

Our world is beset with threats to what makes it habitable, and to what fills it with wonder. The Avaaz community comes together to defend both -- large or small. Whether winning a battle to keep the International Whaling Commission from sanctioning the murder of these giants, or saving bees, the tiny creatures upon which so much depends, we will come together and stand up for the world we all want.

With hope,

More Predatory Trade Deals ~by guess who?

Dear Linda,
We have just 4 days to flood the Canada Trade Agreements Secretariat's public consultation process on a NEW secretive trade deal Harper's trying to sneak through -- the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
Click through to use our talking points and form to submit your comment -- and then make sure all your friends and family do too.
Send your public comment now.
In just four days the Government of Canada will close its environmental assessment into the secretive Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal. Surprised you haven’t heard about it? Harper knows that if the assessment doesn’t find significant environmental impacts, they can just skip producing a draft report altogether and move to the final report, so he's done everything he can to keep this bad deal out of the press.
This deal is just another in a list of predatory trade deals the Harper government is trying to ram through to protect tar sands development and safeguard corporate profits at the expense of the rest of us. Harper thinks he can sneak this deal past us, but if we flood the process with comments, we can show we’re paying attention.
We've made it fast and easy to submit your comment through our form, and there are even talking points on the page to get you started. We need as many of us as possible to write in now, before the comment period closes on Wednesday.
Click here to submit an email to the Canada Trade Agreements Secretariat, and then make sure all your friends and family do too.
Right now corporate lawyers are busy drafting a treaty that Canadians and our own MPs can't even read! The Harper government is hoping to be able to point to this public consultation as proof the process has been transparent -- he will argue that no one is worried about environmental impacts of the TPP and just move forward with no more opportunities for public comment.
The TPP trade deal contains at least 26 chapters that would have a fundamental impact on the environment, the economy, jobs, access to affordable medicines, and much more. The deal will give corporations the right to acquire land, natural resources, and factories without government review, and will allow corporations to be compensated for environmental laws that damage profits.
With just four days to go before the environmental assessment ends, we have a key moment to show the Harper government we’re paying attention.
Can you add your comment now to the Canadian government’s environmental assessment on TPP? We’ve got everything you need to get started.
Look, no one thought we could keep Harper from ratifying the secretive and extreme Canada-China FIPA deal. But so far we have, because nearly 20,000 people from the community submitted comments to the environmental assessment. Now the TPP is coming, and in many respects, it could be even worse than FIPA. So let's use our power to raise the profile of the TPP, like we did FIPA, and stop it in its tracks by flooding the environmental assessment with our comments.
Thanks for all you do,
Emma, Ivan, Kaytee, Rob and the rest of us at

More Information

What is the Trans-Pacific Partnership? Who is participating?
The Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership is a multilateral free trade agreement that aims to further liberalize the economies of the Asia-Pacific region. Currently, 13 countries are party to the negotiations including the Canada, the United States, Mexico, Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Malaysia, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam.
What provisions are in the treaty?
Under the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) "free trade" agreement, corporations would gain an array of privileges:
  • Rights to acquire land, natural resources, factories without government review
  • Elimination of risks and costs of off-shoring to low wage countries
  • Compensation for loss of “expected future profits” from environmental laws
  • Right to move capital without limits
The TPP will impose a set of extreme foreign investor privileges and rights and their private enforcement through the notorious “investor-state” system. Under this regime, foreign investors can skirt domestic courts and laws, and sue governments directly before tribunals of three private sector lawyers operating under World Bank and UN rules to demand taxpayer compensation for any domestic law that investors believe will diminish their "expected future profits”.

Combat Radiation Exposure Naturally

Here are a few links for combatting radiation exposures naturally. I live in British Columbia so we are subject to the constant radiation spewing forth still from Japan's Fukishima downed nuclear reactor. You won't hear much on mainstream news , but you can find out lots by googling on the internet. Avoid milk and fish from the coastlines, the fish from LA area is now loaded with it. Take baths with clay and baking soda, this helps to detox the radiation. Eat miso in soups or warm drinks. Sea veggies help alot. Here are some links for you to check out if you care to.

David Bowie - Where Are We Now?

Bowies first new song in a decade reminiscent of his early days living in Berlin Germany. Debuted the song on his 66th birthday on Jan. 8th 2013.
A piece of trivia here on  Bowie( who lives in NYC with his Somalian wife of many years,) but is originally from the UK....
Bowie was offered a knighthood from the Queen in 2003, but turned it down. He told The Sun, "I would never have any intention of accepting anything like that. I seriously don't know what it's for. It's not what I spent my life working for."

Ecuador’s Sani Isla Kichwa people have asked for our help

Dear friends,

Ecuador’s Sani Isla Kichwa people have asked for our help to stop the government turning their forest home into an oil field. A massive scandal in the global media challenging President Correa to act on his environmental principles could persuade him to pull back and stop the Amazon oil rush. Sign the petition now:

Sign the petition
There is one area of the Ecuadorian Amazon that is so pristine that the whole ecosystem has been preserved and even jaguars roam free! But the government is now threatening to go in and drill for oil.

The local indigenous people have been resisting, but they are afraid that oil companies will break up the community with bribes. When they heard that people across the world might stand with them and make a stink to save their land, they were thrilled. The president of Ecuador claims to stand for indigenous rights and the environment, but he has just come up with a new plan to bring oil speculators in to 4 million hectares of jungle. If we can say 'wait a minute, you're supposed to be the green president who says no one can buy Ecuador', we could expose him for turning his back on his commitments just as he is fighting for re-election.

He doesn't want a PR nightmare right now. If we get a million of us to help this one community defend their ancestral land and challenge the president openly to keep to his word, we could start a media storm that would make him reconsider the whole plan. Sign the petition now and tell everyone -- let's help save this beautiful forest:

After Texaco and other oil companies polluted Ecuadorian waters and irreversibly devastated precious ecosystems, Correa led his country to be the world’s first nation to recognize the rights of “Mother Earth” in its constitution. He announced Ecuador was not for sale, and in Yasuni National Park promoted an innovative initiative where other governments pay Ecuador to keep oil in the ground to protect the rainforest rather than destroy it. But now he’s on the verge of selling out.

Shockingly, the Sani Isla Kichwa land is partly in Yasuni National Park. But even more shocking is Correa's bigger plan -- in days government officials begin a world tour to offer foreign investors the right to drill across 4 million hectares of forest (an area larger than the Netherlands!) Ecuador, as any country, may argue it has the right to profit from its natural resources, but the constitution itself says it must respect indigenous rights and its amazing forests, which bring millions in tourist dollars every year.

Right now, Correa is in a tough fight to win a second term as president. It’s the perfect time to make him honour his environmental promises and make this green constitution come to life. Sign now to stand with the Kichwa people and save their forest:

Our community has fought year after year to protect the Amazon in Brazil and Bolivia, and won many victories standing in solidarity with indigenous communities. Now it’s Ecuador’s turn -- let’s respond to this urgent call for action and save their forest.

With hope and determination,

Alex, Pedro, Alice, Laura, Marie, Ricken, Taylor, Morgan and all the Avaaz team

Poor Limba, Canada's oldest elephant
Le français suit.
Limba, Canada's oldest elephant, has been rented out to perform in circuses her whole life. Now, animal rights group KARA is asking the Bowmanville Zoo to let Limba retire.

Sign KARA's Petition

Linda --
In 1964, baby elephant Limba was torn from her family in Vietnam and shipped to Canada where she has been rented out to perform in circuses ever since.
Today, Limba is Canada's oldest elephant. Animal rights group KARA says Limba is in bad health and probably only has a few years left to live. That's why they started a petition on asking the Bowmanville Zoo to allow Limba to retire after a life of hard work.
Despite her age and health, the Zoo continues to rent her out and force her to work in the circus -- transporting her thousands of miles in a cramped trailer to entertain audiences. When not in the spotlight under the big top, Limba is sent to work at fairs, parades, movie and commercial sets, and children's parties. Just last week a Toronto Star article even reported the Bowmanville Zoo is the "second worst zoo in North America for elephants."*
There is reason to hope. After much public pressure, a 26,000 signature petition on, and orders from Toronto City Council, the Toronto Zoo will be sending its three aging elephants to a wildlife sanctuary in California. If enough people pressure the Bowmanville Zoo, they might allow Limba to retire too.
KARA says would be tragic if Limba were forced to spend her last days in a circus or trailer. Click here to sign their petition to let Limba retire and enjoy her last years.
Thanks for supporting animals using,
Lauryn and the team

Who would have thought this could happen in British Columbia?

A rude awakening meets BC Hydro customers refusing microwave smart meters, as strong arm tactics include customer harassment, bullying and threats of power disconnection, despite continued public messages that BC Hydro will not force anyone to take a microwave meter.

The tyranny of the BC Liberals in partnership with BC Hydro is most cruelly experienced by people suffering from medical conditions requiring a microwave-free home environment. Medical letters of diagnosis and healthcare advice form the basis of the BC Human Rights Class Action against BC Hydro to be heard in November 2013. The BC Liberals have transgressed beyond recovery, coming between doctors and their patients, forcing their unwanted microwave policies upon hundreds of our most vulnerable and defenceless citizens.

Why are our provincial leaders silent on these abuses of the rights of citizens to live peacefully in their own home, with or without doctor's advice? This descent into dictatorship and tyranny should be a huge concern to every single citizen of Canada, no matter if they like microwave meters or not.

Since this economic policy is extremely unpopular among numerous sectors of the population, it has to be implemented by force. There is no humane way to rule people against their will.
The Clean Energy Act is unconstitutional, therefore it is only through tyranny and force that the BC Liberals are able to implement such a risky and unpopular program. Their determination to advance this highly suspect economic policy is causing a departure from the very foundations of liberty, freedom and rights enshrined in our Canadian Constitution. Here now is the fruit of unchecked capitalism in a monopoly: BC Hydro no longer has to work to keep us as customers; it can be as anti-social, undemocratic and boorish as it wants. This is tryanny at work, not democracy.

Economic policies and government agendas must be in line with our democratic and human rights and values. If they are not, it is the regime that must change, not our Canadian Constitution and Human Rights.
