Pearl Jam - Jeremy (Lollapalooza Chile 2013)

Traveling Wilburys - Tweeter And The Monkey Man

Ah now this one is for all those wild and exciting rebellious "monkey men" I have known and know now and will know more in the future ....and for my pal Julie who loves Bob Dylan too!

Tweeter and the Monkey Man were hard up for cash,
They stayed up all night selling cocaine and hash,
To an Undercover Cop who had a sister named Jan.
For reasons unexplained she loved the Monkey Man.

Tweeter was a Boy Scout 'fore she went to Vietnam,
And found out the hard way, nobody gives a damn.
They knew that they found freedom just across the Jersey line,
So they hopped into a stolen car, took Highway 99.

And the walls came down,
All the way to hell.
Never saw them when they're standing,
Never saw them when they fell.

The Undercover Cop never liked the Monkey Man,
Even back in childhood he wanted to see him in the can.
Jan got married at fourteen to a racketeer named Bill,
She made secret calls to the Monkey Man from a mansion on the hill.

It was out on Thunder Road, Tweeter at the wheel,
They crashed into paradise, they could hear them tires squeal.
The Undercover Cop pulled up and said "Everyone of you's a liar,
If you don't surrender now it's gonna go down to the wire."

And the walls came down,
All the way to hell.
Never saw them when they're standing,
Never saw them when they fell.

An ambulance rolled up, a state-trooper close behind,
Tweeter took his gun away and messed up his mind.
The Undercover Cop was left tied up to a tree,
Near the souvenir stand, by the old abandoned factory.

Next day the Undercover Cop was hot in pursuit,
He was taking the whole thing personal, he didn't care about the loot.
Jan had told him many times, "It was you to me who taught
In Jersey anything's legal, as long as you don't get caught".

And the walls came down,
All the way to hell.
Never saw them when they're standing,
Never saw them when they fell.

Some place by Rahwey Prison they ran out of gas,
The Undercover Cop had cornered them, said,
"Boy you didn't think this could last?"
Jan jumped out of bed, said, "There's someplace I gotta go".
She took the gun out of the drawer, said, "It's best that you don't know".

The Undercover Cop was found face down in a field,
The Monkey Man was on the river bridge, using Tweeter as a shield.
Jan said to the Monkey Man, "I'm not fooled by Tweeter's curl,
I knew him long before he became a Jersey Girl."

And the walls came down,
All the way to hell.
Never saw them when they're standing,
Never saw them when they fell.

Now the town of Jersey City is quieting down again,
I'm sitting in a gambling club called the Lion's Den.
The TV set was blown up, every bit of it is gone,
Ever since the nightly news showed that the Monkey Man was on.

I guess I'll go to Florida and get myself some sun,
There ain't no more opportunity here, everything's been done.
Sometimes I think of Tweeter, sometimes I think of Jan,
Sometimes I don't think about nothing but the Monkey Man.

And the walls came down,
All the way to hell.
Never saw them when they're standing,
Never saw them when they fell.

Tell Hawaii's leaders to Stop Poisoning Paradise!

Tell Hawaii's leaders to Stop Poisoning Paradise!
Dear Linda,
You may have spent your honeymoon or a childhood vacation in Hawaii, or just dreamed of someday walking on the islands’ beautiful beaches, but chances are, whatever your experience of Hawaii, it likely doesn't include the harsh reality of it being the agri-chemical testing ground that it's become in recent years.
Right now a major battle is heating up on the islands regarding pesticides and experimental GMOs that could impact our collective future and we need your help.
In the past four months, GMO activists in Hawaii have held the largest protests and marches to stop Monsanto in the history of the islands. While widely known as a beloved tourist destination to millions of vacationers worldwide, in reality Hawaii has a dark side that Monsanto and the giant chemical and biotech companies don’t want you to know about.
For over 20 years, the Hawaiian Islands have become ground zero for open air field trials of the biotech industry’s toxic chemicals and experimental GMO crops. Tests have shown that the biotech industry’s harmful chemicals are contaminating local air and water sources that expose island residents and vacationers alike.
Even worse, at least 10 schools on Hawaii are only 100 yards away from GMO chemical fields, potentially endangering Hawaii’s school children's health for the sake of profits for the chemical and biotech companies.
But the Hawaiian people have had enough and want the right to know if they and their children are being exposed to toxic pesticides.
This Wednesday, July 31, a public hearing is being held by the Kauai City Council regarding a common sense “Right to Know” bill - Bill 2491 - that puts public health ahead of biotech profits by limiting Restricted Use Pesticides (RUPs). It prohibits open air testing of experimental pesticides and experimental GMO’s while publicly disclosing pesticide use on the islands. This bill is unprecedented and necessary but needs your help to pass.
Tell the leaders of Hawaii it’s time to stop poisoning paradise and start protecting the islands’ biodiversity, its people and tourists or you’ll take your next vacation elsewhere! As long as they poison paradise, you’re boycotting Hawaii for good! Every voice counts!
Each year, tourists spend more than $14 billion on Hawaii’s islands to experience the paradise of sandy beaches and soak in the sun, not the chemical and biotech industry’s toxic pesticides and experimental GMO pollen. Last year, more than 8 million tourists visited the tropical paradise that employs more than 167,000 island residents who make a living supporting tourism.
Currently citizens of Kauai have no legal right to know what toxic chemicals are being sprayed in their communities, but passing Bill 2491 could change that.
Toxic Pesticide Drift Impacts Local Schools and Children
Tests have confirmed that at least 3 Restricted Use Pesticides contaminated a local school on the Garden Island of Kauai, such as the toxic herbicide Atrazine, which has been banned in Europe since 2004 due to serious health problems, including cancer, birth defects and reproductive issues.
In 2005, Atrazine, manufactured by Syngenta, was found in Kauai’s drinking water and in 2006 and 2008 children and teachers at a school in Waimea were sickened on several occasions, including one incident where at least 10 children were rushed to the local hospital.
This doesn’t sound like the island paradise that is promoted by the Hawaiian tourism industry, does it?
Yes on Bill 2491 – A Reasonable Public Disclosure Bill About Pesticides and GMOs!
Bill 2491 specifically applies only to large industrial agricultural operations that use large amounts of Restricted Use Pesticides (RUP’s). 99% of these very toxic substances are used by just 5 companies on KauaiSyngenta, BASF, Pioneer DuPont and Dow, who occupy nearly all of the leased agricultural lands in west Kauai - over 15,000 acres in close proximity to schools, residences, churches, and hospitals.
According to University of Hawaii Professor Dr. Hector Valenzuela, every year, giant biotech chemical corporations spray at least 99 different pesticides on Hawaii.  On Kauai, they dump over 36,000 pounds of 22 different types of Restricted Use Pesticides and an additional estimated 160,000 pounds of General Use Pesticides (glyphosate, Round Up and other).
Tell the leaders of Hawaii as long as they poison paradise, you’re boycotting Hawaii for good! Every voice counts!
What happens in Hawaii, doesn’t stay in Hawaii! Please use your voice today to tell Hawaii’s leaders that you’re paying attention and expect them to support the people, not Monsanto and Syngenta!

Aging..Me that is ;)

I bumped in to a friend today after work. I was just coming out of our local mall where I had stopped to get some extra virgin olive oil to use in my toothsoap recipe this week. She has a fancy dan cellphone with the bells and whistles and took this photo with the little "pirate ship" at our Kootenay Lake. It was to send to our friend Philip in LA. is a funny thing is aging. Suddenly the years have rolled on by, and the lively soul who you are inside the 3d body takes note that the 3d body is changing. The skin is not without wrinkles and odd markings and scars from old accidents. Yet you still, wrinkles sags and whatever has gone south, haha, canna but still check out a good looking man , young or old. It just comes with years of appreciating the male species though, you are just not that saucy young chicky poo you once were, nope, now you are called Maam in the shops and young men rush to help you when you are up to your knees in a downtown flood, not 'cuz you are some hotty in need of rescuing, but perhaps an old granny in need of not falling down and injuring herself. Ah well...I had my years of fun and good times and hot lovers...memories will sustain me as I( not) so graciously  ha ha accept that I am now a junior senior...once upon a time I had a hay day in the 1960's....dancing to the beat of all those psychedelic bands and grooving in Yorkville Village, Haight Ashbury and I am in a different kind of 60's...So I will just adapt and go with the flow , albeit not so fast paced but I'd like to imagine a lot gentler. Time will tell,Goddess willing. And so , here I am...60 and still smiling! Eh ma ho. Linda Bee

More Greedy Global Insanity~Great Barrier Reef

Dear Avaazers,

The Great Barrier Reef is at risk of being dredged to make way for a mega coal project. But if one key investor walks away, the deal would be sunk and the world heritage site protected. We can convince them to pull out, or get PM Rudd to stop the plan, but we have to act now -- sign this urgent petition to help save the Great Barrier Reef:
It would be hard to make this stuff up. Australia’s legendarily irresponsible mining industry has a new plan: while the planet faces catastrophic climate change, build the world’s largest coal mining complex, and then build a shipping lane to that port straight through the greatest ecological treasure we have - the Great Barrier Reef!

This is a terrible idea with devastating consequences, and the investor group Aurizon that’s backing it know it. They’re getting cold feet, and we might be able to push them over the edge, and kill the project. One of the main potential funders has even donated to climate activism!

If one million of us express our head-shaking disbelief at this crazy project in the next few days, we can help get Aurizon to pull funding and maybe even persuade the Australian PM to step in. This is what Avaaz is for, let’s raise a voice for common sense:

The Great Barrier Reef -- the largest living organism on Earth and home to a quarter of all the species that live in the world’s oceans -- has slowly been dying for years. It’s lost half its coral in the past three decades and that rate is only accelerating. Climate change is one cause, but so is Australia’s booming mining industry. The German magazine Der Spiegel reported that “if current trends continue, the unthinkable could happen: the Great Barrier Reef could die.”

And yet, the mining industry plans to build massive new ports at a complex called Abbot Point in Northeast Australia (right by the reef) to make it easier to get the coal it’s mining out to the world. Not only would that mean doubling the number of ships that pass by the reef each year and ripping up to 3 million cubic meters of material from the fragile seabed, but if all the coal from the proposed mines this would enable is burned, it would be three times Australia's current climate pollution -- hurtling us faster towards the point of no return.

The investors are meeting now to decide what to do and the Australian Environment Minister will choose whether to approve the project in the next two weeks.
Our voices can signal to all of them to block this disaster, especially to Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd if he hopes to maintain his global reputation in the lead-up to his re-election bid.

They’re all deciding what to do now. Sign this urgent petition and share it with everyone you know to stop the Great Barrier train wreck:

The Avaaz community has been fighting to save the unparalleled beauty of the reef for years. Last year, Avaaz members threatened a public US Bank when they were set to invest in reef destruction. And hundreds of thousands of Avaaz members sent messages to the Australian Environment Minister to help win the largest marine reserve in the world. Let’s do it again and put the reef out of reach of these profiteering plunderers.

With hope and determination,

David, Alex, Emily, Lisa, Oli, Marie, Ricken, Alice and the whole Avaaz team

James Gillilands Message this day

Many are feeling intense energies which seems to have began yesterday but today it was very strong. It was extreme sadness, deep ancient cellular grief centered around male female relationship. It felt like a rebirth of the feminine stepping back into their power and the males reaction to the projection of those energies. This process was very intense and hard to assimilate best advice is taking some space and alone time with compassion for the process. There are eighth dimensional beings involved in this process. There are star gates opening assisting in the Earths birthing process along with entire spiritually and technologically advanced beings, Star Nations also assisting in this process. On a darker note the chemtrails have a new batch of biologicals in them which resemble strep throat. People all over the US are coming down with his and the throat feels as if it is swollen shut making it very hard to swallow. Many are using different remedies I used colloidal silver and swished some olive oil in my mouth which worked wonders. I also did a cleanse right after ward using apple cider, epson salts, followed by olive oil and grapefruit juice. Be sure to be close to the porcelain God because the bathroom needs to be handy. This is my own personal process and I am not a doctor or give advice.

At 7:50 PM a very large mother ship flew over the ranch with over 10 witnesses in a daylight sighting. It vanished over Mt Adams in pixelated sparkles. The night before was filled with ships powering up and putting on quite a show. The night was filled with multiple ufos and a massive powerup in the West. Thats it for now. Hang in there not long now before the end of tyranny. Be well.

Bill C-60~Another Big Brother tactic in Canada

Thank you for contacting me about the recent Conservative omnibus budget legislation, Bill C-60, that targets the very independence of the CBC as well as the autonomy of other cultural institutions.

New Democrats oppose the Conservatives' relentless, ideological attacks on the freedom of the press and the right to collective bargaining. The new sweeping powers in Bill C-60 give his government unprecedented powers to dictate employment terms for workers and managers at CBC - including the work of journalists questioning the actions of his government.

Furthermore, the Harper government is trying to extend the same level of influence with other Crown institutions including the Canada Council for the Arts, Telefilm, and our national museums. Such interference will diminish the independence of our key cultural institutions - a freedom that is fundamental to telling our national stories and supporting our cultural industry.

Canadians deserve better.

I recently met with Friends of Canadian Broadcasting to discuss these new challenges facing the CBC. New Democrats have a long history of fighting both Conservative and Liberal cutbacks to the CBC/Radio-Canada. We stand in solidarity against this serious threat to the independence of Crown corporations serving the public interest.

We tried to remove the CBC from Bill C-60. ( In defeating our amendment, the Conservative government showed further disregard for the concerns of Canadians who want to protect the independence of the CBC.

NDP Labour critic Alexandre Boulerice is working with Canadian unions on a campaign against these draconian measures. He said, "The NDP is concerned that this potential for interference will impact the ability of these corporations to retain high quality workers and effectively serve Canadians."

It is clear that the Conservatives are fixated on stripping workers' rights and the independence of crown corporations like the CBC/Radio-Canada, Canada Post, Bank of Canada and VIA Rail. We will continue to defend these interests in the House of Commons. And, we will continue to remind the Conservative government of their gross mismanagement of taxpayers' money - especially the missing $3.1 billion reported by the Auditor-General. Canadians expect better management of their money and want better investments in the things they care about including the CBC.

Going forward, the NDP will continue with our efforts to ensure adequate and stable funding so Canadians can count on having national and local programming in their region. We also value the important role that CBC/Radio-Canada plays as a powerful engine of support for our cultural industry. Our arts and culture sector adds billions annually to our economy and warrants the collaborative support of the CBC/Radio-Canada.

Again, thank you for adding your voice to this effort. You can count on our Official Opposition team to continue fighting hard against Conservative attacks on the CBC/Radio-Canada.

All the best,

Thomas Mulcair, M.P. (Outremont)

BCSpiritSoap~local interview

Heh heh heh, Recently I was interviewed by a local woman who is highly intuitive and has a show on the Nelson co op radio station called Intuitively Speaking. It was the tail end , (tale end) of Mercury retro a go go and the second half of her show, where she did some numerology reading for me and other information, all did not record. And we had thought the show had flowed so smoothly. Ah well. Here is a link to hear the show if you care to.
It is the tenth show ......
That was my black manx BC who lived for 23 years! He was my soul mate cat and highly evolved. My cottage industry BCSpiritSoap is named in his honour. Someday we will be energy together, he and I and all my friends and animal friends on the other side. Balls of light...until then....I love you BC!

Tell Naked Juice to Get Serious About Honest Labeling!

Tell Naked Juice to Get Serious About Honest Labeling!
Did you know that Naked Juice has been putting synthetically produced ingredients, such as calcium pantothenate (synthetically produced from formaldehyde) and genetically engineered ingredients, into its “all natural” juices?
Thanks to a landmark legal victory for American consumers last week, this is all going to change.
Naked Juice and its parent company PepsiCo have agreed to settle a very important class action lawsuit, which accused the company of deceptive labeling, and they will now remove the “all natural” label from their juices. The case is not settled though - a court must review the settlement and make sure it is fair to the classs. And it's not.
However, you haven’t been told the entire story.......
Naked and PepsiCo have cut very questionable deals with the plaintiffs' lawyers to minimize the amount of media exposure of this case – all to protect the Naked Juice brand and shortchange consumers.
If that weren’t enough, they don’t want to name non-profit organizations who work to promote transparent labeling (a requirement of the law) as beneficiaries of any unclaimed funds.
Tell Naked Juice that we want and deserve the Naked truth and need the courts to appoint appropriate groups, such as Food Democracy Now!, as the beneficiary of any unclaimed funds, so accurate labeling can be pursued!
Our petition will be delivered to the judge this Monday morning. We need every voice!
We know that Naked Juice and PepsiCo don’t want real groups fighting for honest labeling to be a part of the settlement and are stonewalling these efforts.  So, here’s where we need your help.
One of the plaintiffs and her attorneys have petitioned the court to appoint non-profit groups that fight false labels on our foods to be the beneficiary of these unclaimed funds. This court hearing is only a few days away and we have a unique opportunity to have your voice of support heard by the courts.
This could potentially result in hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars for our efforts to achieve transparency and truth in labeling, giving us the needed resources to fight the companies, such as PepsiCo who are trying to stop your right to know.
Food Democracy Now! is active in state labeling efforts across the country and we’re committed to your Right to Know and a fair and honest food system. But let’s face it, resources are limited and you can help us get the funding we need to win these important battles by simply adding your name today!
Tell the courts to appoint appropriate groups, such as Food Democracy Now!, as the beneficiary of any unclaimed funds, to help us win!
Even though it is a big win for consumers that Naked Juice is removing the “All Natural” claims on its products, the terms of this settlement show that the company isn’t 100% committed to accurate labeling.
After all, should we be surprised?
PepsiCo, Naked Juice’s parent company, donated $2.5 million to defeat last year’s Proposition 37, California’s GMO-labeling ballot initiative.
It is time that major food companies be held accountable for their actions and truly commit to accurate labeling.
Join Food Democracy Now! and tell the Naked Juice and PepsiCo CEOs that accurate labeling of food products is our fundamental right and must be pursued!
Thanks for participating in food democracy,
Dave, Lisa and the Food Democracy Now! team

The Full Moon Song

Help to Ban shipping oil in old dangerous rail cars

The human loss of the Lac-Mégantic tragedy is almost beyond belief. Together, we can make sure this never happens again.

Click here to call on Lisa Raitt, the new Transport Minister, to immediately ban shipping oil in old, dangerous type 111A tanker cars, and join the call for a comprehensive independent safety review of all pipeline, rail and truck transportation of oil and gas.

On July 5th, as most people in Lac-Mégantic slept, a freight train hauling 72 tank cars of crude oil derailed in the middle of the small Quebec town.1 Many of the old, dangerous tank cars split open. The oil burst into flames and explosions shook the town as burning oil flowed through the streets.

The fires blazed for two days, destroying half of the downtown, and leaving 38 confirmed dead, with a dozen still missing in a town of 6,000. This is the deadliest rail disaster in Canada in nearly 150 years.2,3 The human loss is almost beyond belief, and our hearts and prayers are with the people who are grieving and rebuilding in Lac-Mégantic.

Now, dozens of organizations across Canada, from Quebec’s Équiterre to Public Interest Alberta, are coming together to make sure a disaster like this never happens again, and they are asking for your help to make sure the federal government listens.

Please click here to tell Prime Minister Harper and the new Minister of Transport, Lisa Raitt, that you demand an immediate ban on using dangerous 111A tank cars to transport oil, and join the call for a full review of how dangerous fuels like oil and gas are transported through our communities - by train, pipeline, and truck.

Government and industry have known for years that it’s extremely dangerous to carry oil in the old “111A” tank cars that exploded in Lac-Mégantic.4 Yet, the government has removed common-sense safety regulations, and has failed to implement necessary oversight for shipping the dangerous fuel.5

Back in 1994 the Transportation Safety Board of Canada wrote that 111A tank cars have a flawed design and a "high incidence of tank integrity failure" during accidents. Since then, the government has ignored repeated warnings while companies have used more and more old rail cars to transport dangerous fuels through communities across the country.6,7

Despite the tragedy, the federal government is still denying the need for a full review and better safety regulations. On Friday, Larry Miller, the Conservative MP who chairs the government’s Transport committee, dismissed calls for a review of Transport Canada’s safety regulations.8

The tragedy in Lac-Mégantic shows us just how devastating it can be when governments put oil company interests before community safety. As our hearts go out to all those affected, we can work together to make sure this never happens again in any community from coast to coast to coast.

Please click here to demand a ban on 111A tanker cars and an independent safety review of all oil and gas transportation.

The quiet increase of oil and gas transportation in recent years - through pipelines, rail and trucks - is putting our communities, livelihoods and environment in harm’s way. More and more people are concerned about the risks of these dangerous fuels, and we deserve to have a say in decisions that affect all of our lives.

We need to act now before the media moves on and attention fades. If enough of us speak out now, we can force the new Minister of Transport, Lisa Raitt, to take the first steps necessary to protect our communities.

Thanks for all you do.

With hope and respect,

Matthew, Sanna, Cam, Jamie, Maggie and Emma on behalf of the team

P.S. Did you know the railway industry has been lobbying the federal government to make our safety regulations even weaker?9 An immediate ban on old, dangerous, tank cars and a full safety review is the first step in making sure a tragedy like Lac-Mégantic never happens again. Send your message now.

Not so smart meters....more of the bull...

No Choice At All, Just Another Game
It is clear the Smart Meter "options" offered yesterday by our new Minister of Energy only apply to people who don't have a Smart Meter yet. It doesn't apply to the thousands of people who were lied to or bullied into taking a Smart Meter against their will, nor does it apply to those who have changed their minds since installation, those who move to a new house, or those who stop paying the "fee", and this offers no choice at all for people living in multiple housing developments with numerous microwave smart meters pulsing through their homes. Smart Meter installations have been imposed on thousands of customers despite their refusal which is not reflected in any of Mr. Bennett's calculations. All of these people want and must have the right of choice to a safe and secure electrical meter that does nothing more than record energy use.

While we appreciate that Bill Bennett no longer wants to see people bullied into taking a microwave emitting Smart Meter against their will, we do not believe the options presented so far are fair and reasonable to the people of BC. In fact, the proposed "options" appear to be a ploy to get the remaining Smart Meters installed with some window dressing to hide the true nature of the plan. Making sure that every citizen has a Smart Meter makes it very easy to turn the radio on at a future date, with or without the resident's consent or knowledge, and so by sleight of hand, the microwave Smart Grid rollout would be complete.

The BC Liberals are providing scant comfort in stating that the BC Utilities Commission will oversee the charges. They are attempting to restrict thte inevitable BCUC hearings to cost alone, but the areas of contention and concern regarding this Smart Grid go far beyond financial.

We are being told that nobody will be forced any more, but now we are faced with clearly coercive tactics - we will put a Smart Meter on your house unless you pay money, and if you move or cannot afford to pay the extorion fee, or already have a smart meter, YOU ARE OUT OF LUCK.

Every single ratepayer in BC is already paying for the Smart Grid program, whether you get a meter of not. Smart Meters and all the infrastructure, plus many future upgrades, are bought using our money paid to BC Hydro in our rate charges. If you choose to keep your analogue, BC Hydro should actually pay you a rebate check since you are already paying for a service you don't want. There is no need to incur the cost of meter readers except to verify readings once per year. Many places throughout BC and Canada use a system of customer relayed information to form billings. At a cost per microwave Smart Meter of approximately $555 per household to install, when the customer says no, there is a saving to BC Hydro which should be passed along to the customer.

So where's the real and true democratic choice, Mr. Bennett? The real choice is to make the Smart Grid an opt in system, and any person who chooses not to participate in this questionable and risky program can do so without harassment or underhanded coercion.

The Human Rights case is still moving ahead, with the hearing scheduled for November. The Class Action lawsuit against BC Hydro will be filed next week on behalf of persons against whom a wireless smart meter has been imposed. Those wishing to join the class action may follow directions posted on our website,

Know the truth about these options, and that is they are NO CHOICE AT ALL.

Bryan Ferry - While My Heart Is Still Beating (Live 88-89)

(Bryan Ferry/Andy Mackay)
All of those people
Ever so needing
Where's it all leading
Tell me where
Nothing insincere
I'd better have pity
I'd better go easy
I never will lay down
While my heart is still beating
Where it's all leading
Walk on air
Am I still dreaming
Words to spare
Lost in their meaning
I'd better be strong now
I'd better stop dreaming
My heart has flown away now
Will it never stop bleeding?

Nelson's Little Flood Today

Today at our downtown Wed market, it suddenly got very dark out and then a torrent of rain and winds blew through. The streets flooded and it was such a dramatic moment to see the water just coming down from the uphill streets and converging....right at mine and my fellow vendors tables. Quickly I put my cases on top of my chair, covered my wares and then took refuge at the far side of the street as the water kept coming. Quite the dramatic morning. As soon as it came, it stopped , a few brief showers and then the sun came out to dry it all ....and for some unknown reason, the day was my best for sales yet this entire season. Go figga. Here is a link with photos that do not capture just how deep the water was in our area. The cleansing.

Message in a Bottle

Momma Raccoony

Ah then, now I know why the raccoon was eating so much lately. I just went for another big bag of cat kibble for it, which now I know is a her. Turns out a baby raccoony is in the mix. Today as I was heading out back, I spied them both eating the kibble and having a drink from the communal bowl. How sweet. It figures that the raccoon is a female, last year a momma skunk raised 6 kits under my studio, this year it is a momma raccoon. Life here in the village.

KTVU Apology for Friday Noon Report [FULL] -- Asiana Flight 214 Pilot Names

Dear Linda,

The tar sands pipeline fails the climate test
President Obama has promised he won't approve the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline if it drives more climate chaos. Tell the President the pipeline fails his test and he should reject it!

Last month, President Obama made news by promising to reject the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline if it will drive more global warming pollution and more climate chaos.

Well, we already have clear and compelling evidence that it would do just that. But it's up to you and me to deliver that message loud and clear to the White House this summer.

Tell President Obama to keep his word and reject the Keystone XL!

Even industry insiders and Wall Street banks agree that the Keystone XL is the linchpin of Big Oil's plan to triple tar sands production over the next 20 years. That rapid expansion will drive 250 percent more global warming pollution than it did just three years ago!

Canada's tar sands contain a carbon reservoir equivalent to all the carbon burned in human history. If the Obama Administration approves the Keystone XL, it will light the fuse on that carbon bomb and trigger still more climate upheaval, leaving none of us unscathed.

Yet, the State Department is still whitewashing the true dangers of tar sands. Its latest environmental review parrots Big Oil's bankrupt assertion that the Keystone XL will not drive tar sands expansion or increase global warming.

That is a giant red flag because the State Department is charged with deciding whether or not the pipeline is in our national interest.

I can't tell you if President Obama will go along with the State Department's charade -- or if he will have the courage to slam shut the floodgates on a river of climate-destroying, tar sands crude.

But I can tell you this: Both the State Department and the White House will be under ferocious pressure this summer from Big Oil and its climate-denying friends on Capitol Hill.

That means it's up to you and me to hold the President to his promise on climate ... and we must do so swiftly, loudly and relentlessly.

Please join me in sending a message to President Obama. Tell him to keep his word and reject this destructive pipeline once and for all.

Thank you for standing with me and NRDC in strong opposition to the Keystone XL.

Tar Sands Healing Walk video
This is from someone who was there...

P.S. We want to share this note with you, by Shannon M Houle, Band Councillor with the Saddle Lake Cree Nation. It's long, but worth reading. You can follow her on twitter @smhoule.

“As we did the first prayers with the Elder, we listened to the sounds of the cannons in the background, used to scare the birds off from landing in the tailing ponds, the air I was breathing was already hurting my throat but we continued our journey... we walked & walked...
Then with tailing ponds all around us, we started the second prayer for healing & as we prayed we weeped with the Elder who could be heard crying uncontrollably for Mother Earth, the land, the water, the animals, and all. As I wept with her, I placed the mask over by mouth, it was getting harder to breath and my head was aching worse but we continued our journey...we walked & walked
Then we reached the halfway point and as were surrounded by deadness of sand, tailing ponds, we stood in utter sadness as we didn't see life, we saw steel, smoke stacks, machines, blackness and within the sadness we saw trailers supposed to be living quarters that looked like jail cells without bars... no life was within all this. We looked on and searched hard to understand why why why... as we walked and walked while seeing signs that said, "reclamation" but all we saw was sand with no life.
Again, more tailing ponds and it was harder to breath. Then we come upon trees to our left and got some relief from the air of death. Again the Elder stopped to conduct the third prayer and as the hundreds of people sat on the ground in exhaustion she prayed as the people bowed their heads, we couldn't believe what we were seeing but couldn't deny it as our bodies reminded us of the pain in our heads and the pain in our throats as we took our breaths...this was a moment we were wishing harder to see life and prayed harder for healing but we continued our journey... we walked & walked...
Legs were hurting, the throat, the head & we were all lagging on, even the Elder who walked the 10km with us was needing to sit on the back of the truck tailgate that guided us, you could see the pain in her eyes as she grasped her walking stick to help her keep her head up. It was even more painful to watch so I looked away but all I could see was death and miles and miles of tail ponds all around.
I was desperate for some comfort so I kept close to the Drummers and used their songs to find strength and comfort for my heart and soul. Then as we were 2 or 3 kms from the end of our walk and we stopped for the last prayer. We all turned to face one of the tail ponds with even louder cannons echoing, so I sat with my sister on the road and leaned my back on the tire of the truck in exhaustion and agony. The Elder was preparing to start and our guide announced for all of us to pray even harder even though we were all fighting to find strength.
Even the most physically fit people were suffering because it was more than a physical journey, it was a emotional, mental, and spiritual one.
We all found it in ourselves to prayer harder as each breath hurt the lungs and trucks, buses, cars passed us what seemed like miles and miles into the distance...on we prayed for healing, for a miracle, for the people who died in Montreal, for the other oil spills where people have gone missing, for the animals and water and all at Athabasca Rivers other oil spill...all these announcements of oil spills and destruction as we walked...we prayed so hard for it all to stop... and so we continued our journey... we walked & walked...”

Chinese Shoot More Monks in Tibet

Dear Linda,

I am pleased to confirm that more than 20,000 International Campaign for Tibet members participated in sending birthday greetings to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

But while we were gathering your messages, peaceful celebrations of His Holiness’ birthday were violently interrupted by Chinese authorities on Saturday. Two Tibetan monks were shot in the head by Chinese police for peacefully observing the Dalai Lama’s birthday. The vicious attack occurred in Nyitso, Tawu, eastern Tibet, when armed police opened fire on a gathering of monks, nuns and laypeople who were lighting incense and praying to mark what should have been a joyous occasion.

This latest incident of Chinese authorities’ violence against Tibetans is a searing example of why your support of ICT is so very important.

Tibetan culture, traditions and the Tibetan people’s aspirations for peace – all exemplified by the Dalai Lama – are under systematic assault by the Chinese government. Your contribution to ICT will help us:
  • Reveal the truth about China’s oppressive policies and assaults on Tibetan culture.

  • Ensure support for humanitarian relief efforts on behalf of Tibetan refugees.

  • Directly engage the Chinese people and rally people worldwide to the cause of Tibetan self-determination.
Those efforts and many others are made possible by your kind support.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama has always been appreciative of supporters of the Tibetan people throughout the world and everyone here at ICT is deeply grateful for your commitment to our work. Please step up again to help our Tibetan brothers and sisters toward more hopeful, peaceful futures.

Thank you,

Bhuchung Tsering
Interim President

His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Well this takes the Cake...the MonSatan geo engineered wheat or corn cake...

Monsanto is sneaking propaganda into schools to brainwash our kids into supporting genetically-modified crops.

Tell Monsanto to stop lying to our children through these books.
Monsanto is trying to brainwash our kids into supporting genetically-modified crops, sending out Biotechnology Basics Activity Books along with Dow and Bayer that are nothing more than coloring books filled with biotech propaganda.
Tell Monsanto, Dow and Bayer to stop lying to our children with these activity books.
These packets tell our children that genetically modified crops are proven safe, are great for the environment, and lead to more nutritious food, all outright lies compared to what little we know so far. And if we don’t speak out now, Monsanto, Dow and Bayer will make sure these books will be headed to a school near you.
If we demand they stop plans to distribute these activity books, we can make sure no child is brainwashed by their biotech propaganda — but if we don’t, a whole new generation will be brought up on Dow, Bayer and Monsanto’s lies.
Thanks for all you do,

Big Shift for Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream~No more GMO's soon...

For years, major corporations have been opposing GMO labeling, but the tide is finally starting to turn in a big way.

Ben & Jerry's just agreed to remove all genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) from its list of ingredients as soon as it can. This is a huge shift for the company -- just earlier this year, its corporate parent, Unilever, made headlines by contributing hundreds of thousands of dollars to the fight against GMO labeling. Now Ben & Jerry's is doing an about-face and fighting against the likes of Monsanto to label GMO products and use natural ingredients instead.

As a more radical brand of a much large food corporation, Ben & Jerry's can help drive the debate over GMOs in a big way. If Unilever and other companies see an outpouring of support for Ben & Jerry's over this issue, it will help push more brands to change, and put power behind the movement for real food.

Join me in thanking Ben & Jerry's for its pledge to remove GMOs from its list of ingredients.

The Fate of the Rohingya Peoples in Burma

Dear friends,

Most people didn't know who the Rwandans were until 800,000 had been killed. Now, the fate of the Rohingya people of Burma is hanging by a thread as mobs attack them while the police look on. The Burmese President could stop the violence - all he has to do is approve a plan to protect them and ensure it is enforced, while granting them citizenship. Let’s appeal to European leaders to press him when he visits them in days, and stop the next Rwanda:
Most people didn't know who the Rwandans were until it was too late, and 800,000 of them were dead. Right now, the fate of Burma's Rohingya people is hanging by a thread. Racist thugs have distributed leaflets threatening to wipe out this small Burmese minority. Already children have been hacked to death and unspeakable murders committed. All signs are pointing to a coming horror, unless we act.

Genocides happen because we don't get concerned enough until the crime is committed. The Rohingya are a peaceful and very poor people. They're hated because their skin is darker and the majority fear they’re 'taking jobs away'. There are 800,000 of them, and they could be gone if we don't act. We've failed too many peoples, let's not fail the Rohingya.

Burmese President Thein Sein has the power, personnel and resources to protect the Rohingya, all he has to do is give the word to make it happen. In days, he’ll arrive in Europe to sell his country’s new openness to trade. If EU leaders greet him with a strong request to protect the Rohingya, he’s likely to do it. Let’s get 1 million voices and plaster images of what’s happening in Burma outside his meetings with key EU heads of state:

Torture, gang rape, execution style killings -- human rights groups are using the term "ethnic cleansing" to describe the brutality in Burma. Already more than 120,000 Rohingya have been forced to flee, many to makeshift camps near the border, while others have fled in boats only to drown, starve, or be shot at by coastguards from neighboring countries. Reports show that violence is escalating -- earlier this year President Thein Sein declared a state of emergency after another round of deadly attacks, and it’s just a matter of time until there is a large scale massacre.

Genocides don’t happen when governments oppose them, but the Burmese regime has been leaning the wrong way. Recently, a government spokesperson admitted that authorities were enforcing a rule that limits the Rohingya population to having only two children and forces couples seeking to get married to obtain special permission. And experts report that government authorities have stood by or even participated in acts of “ethnic cleansing.” President Sein has finally been forced to acknowledge what’s happening to the Rohingya, but he has so far refused to implement plans to stop the violence and protect those at risk.

Until he does, the risk of genocide hovers like a dark cloud over not just Burma, but the world. Through their trade relations, UK PM Cameron and French President Hollande have massive leverage with Sein -- if they press him to act when he meets with them this month, it could save lives. Let’s make sure they do. We've failed too many peoples, let's not fail the Rohingya. Join the call now and share this with everyone:

Time and again, the Avaaz community has stood with the people of Burma in their fight for democracy. When the regime brutally cracked down on Buddhist monks in 2007, Avaazers donated hundreds of thousands of dollars/euros/pounds to provide technical support and training to activists to fight a communications blackout. In 2008, when a devastating cyclone killed at least 100,000 Burmese, but the venal military regime stopped all official international aid from coming in, our community donated millions directly to monks on the front line of the aid effort.

Our community didn’t exist when genocide was committed in Rwanda, 20 years ago. Would we have done enough to stop it? Let’s show the Rohingya our answer to that question.

With hope and determination,

Luis, Jeremy, Aldine, Oliver, Marie, Jooyea and the whole Avaaz team
